Karen is a 1989 graduate of Marquette University College of Health Sciences Program in Physical Therapy. Her early career included a wide variety of settings, but currently her professional focus is on the treatment of general orthopedic conditions in all age groups, with special interest in treatment of musculoskeletal dysfunction of the pelvis in women and men; and biomechanical dysfunction related to the effects of pregnancy, and cancer treatment. She uses a balance of passive treatments, active movement interventions, and education to help her patients manage pain, restore safe movement patterns, and learn to manage their condition independently. She finds joy in watching her patients learn safe movement patterns that reduce the risk of re-injury and future problems. Karen is a native of Southeastern Wisconsin who settled in Wausau 20 years ago after living and working throughout the United States. As an avid cyclist, hiker, kayaker, and cross country skier, she found Wausau to be a good balance of an urban center with easily accessible outdoor activities. Wausau is also now a great place to be raising her family, which includes 2 teens who keep her on the move with their involvement in sports, performing arts, and community activities.
Heather Kapitz, BS, MPT
Heather has been working and living in the Wausau area since graduating from the University of Wisconsin-Madison with a Master of Physical Therapy degree in 2002. Heather is a 1995 graduate of Rhinelander High School and earned her Bachelor of Science degree in Kinesiology (Exercise Science) from the University of Wisconsin-Madison in 1999. Heather's professional passions are family orthopedics, including sports and work injuries, and women’s and men’s health physical therapy. She considers her work successful if her patients are comfortable, moving freely, and have the know-how to keep themselves that way for the long term. Heather's personal passion is her growing family: a husband, four (very active) kids, a dog, and backyard chickens. She loves the balance that being a private physical therapy practice owner offers between her work and family lives. She is passionate about health and wellness and loves staying active through running, skiing, snow-shoeing, biking, yoga, Pilates, and other strength-training/fitness activities. Heather is also an avid reader and is a life-long student. Growing up in northern Wisconsin, Heather is excited to still be part of the community in northcentral WI and is grateful for all of the personal, family, and professional opportunities that the Wausau area offers.
