Priority Physical Therapy, Inc. delivers excellent women’s and men’s healthcare, manual therapy, and orthopedic physical therapy during the preventative, restorative, and maintenance phases of health and healing.  We provide individualized care to all patients, incorporating patient education and independence in all plans of care, in a quiet, private, personal environment.  We maintain open communication with all health care providers involved in each patient’s physical therapy care, resulting in exceptional outcomes and satisfaction for all involved. 

Priority Physical Therapy is in constant pursuit of clinical excellence through evidence-based practice and contributes to the base of knowledge through clinical research and other educational opportunities.

Heather Kapitz, MPT

Heather has been a resident of and practicing physical therapy in the Wausau area since 2002 after graduating from the University of Wisconsin-Madison with a Master of Physical Therapy degree.  Heather is a 1995 graduate of Rhinelander High School who earned her Bachelor of Science degree in Kinesiology (Exercise Science) from the University of Wisconsin-Madison in 1999. 


  • Family orthopedic physical therapy
  • Women’s and men’s health physical therapy (including evaluation and treatment of pelvic pain, incontinence, coccydynia, prenatal/postpartum musculoskeletal disorders, rehabilitation after breast surgery, and osteoporosis)

Heather has completed all the coursework for a Certificate of Achievement in Pelvic Physical Therapy (CAPP-Pelvic) and a Certificate of Achievement in Pregnancy and Postpartum Physical Therapy (CAPP-OB), with a long term goal of a board-certified clinical specialty in women’s health physical therapy and ultimately a clinical doctorate degree in physical therapy (DPT). Heather is certified in prenatal/postpartum fitness and exercise design and has a strong background in evaluating and treating women’s and men’s health issues. In addition to her women's and men's health area of specialization, Heather continues to have a strong practice in general orthopedics, such as spinal dysfunction and rehabilitation of the extremities, including hand therapy.

Heather is a mother of three young boys and loves the balance that being a private physical therapy practice owner offers between her work and family lives.  She is passionate about health and wellness and loves staying active through running, skiing, snow-shoeing, biking, yoga, Pilates, and other strength-training/fitness activities.  Heather is also an avid reader and is a life-long student.  Growing up in northern Wisconsin, Heather is excited to still be part of the community in northcentral WI and is grateful for all of the personal, family, and professional opportunities that the Wausau area offers.

Karen Monarski, PT

Karen earned her Bachelor of Science in Physical Therapy from Marquette University in Milwaukee, WI in 1989. A native of southeastern Wisconsin, she has been practicing in the Wausau area since 1998.

  • Women’s and men’s health physical therapy (including pelvic pain, incontinence, musculoskeletal disorders in the prenatal/postpartum period, and dysfunction following breast and abdominal surgery including treatment of lymphedema)

Karen has received certification in treatment of lymphedema and prenatal/postpartum fitness and exercise design. Karen has completed the coursework for Certificate of Achievement in Pelvic Physical Therapy (CAPP-Pelvic), and is currently pursuing Certificate of Achievement in Pregnancy and Post-partum Physical Therapy (CAPP-OB). Karen also has extensive experience and training in treatment of the TMJ (jaw), cervical spine (neck) dysfunction and headaches, and hand therapy; and the application of Myofascial Release (MFR). She has also received additional education regarding vestibular (balance) disorders.

Karen is a native of Southeastern Wisconsin who relocated to Wausau over a decade ago to enjoy the outdoors activities that this area has to offer. A long-time avid bike rider and cross country skier sidelined by hip injury, she knows well the challenges that physical injury can create, and has since taken active pursuits to the water in her kayak and as a swimmer. With a young family, Karen is grateful for the flexibility to be able to help out at her children's school and extracurricular activities.
